My story...
Hello and welcome to my website and store. My name is Jay Langenbau and I am the owner of Lake Antique Warehouse in Clear Lake, Iowa. I grew up in a small town in central Iowa where I began enjoying "older" things. I loved to play with my grandmother's old toys and look at her old photos and "old" stuff that she accumulated from the early 1900's. My parents owned a small grocery store where I worked throughout my junior and high school days. There were always old advertisements and displays and cool merchandise that I enjoyed, like beer signs, Pepsi remote control cars, life size cut outs and bigger than life size cereal boxes. While working at the store I enjoyed talking with and helping other people by delivering their groceries or helping them find things throughout the store. I continued to help people when I made a career in law enforcement and became the elected Sheriff for a couple terms. As I look at retiring from law enforcement, after 27 years, I decided I want to go back into retail while doing what I enjoy. I love going to garage sales an antique stores and malls. While looking at a ton of amazing "older" stuff, I started collecting more and more and started selling some things here and there. I enjoy hunting for old, rare and unique things and researching them. I also love sharing those things and watching others enjoy as much or more than me. I have started the website to sell the treasures that I am finding to start this next chapter. I am in the works for getting things lined up for an antique store, not only for myself, but an antique mall for all to partake and enjoy. Come see the L.A.W. (Lake Antique Warehouse) website now. Selling of goods, new and old but mostly old. Most prices are negotiable so don't be afraid to ask. I won't be offended. Some items may be delivered for a fee and most items can be shipped for a fee. I am willing to sell items for you for a fee. I am willing to buy items. I am willing to give you estimated (professional but non certified, at the moment) appraisals. If there is something you are looking for, talk to me and I can look for you as I hunt for more goodies. Send me an email , text or call for questions or services.
